"The Year of Inspiration & Moderation"

.
2016 is going to be fantastic!

For Paul and me, 2016 is going to be the "The Year of Inspiration & Moderation". Paul has officially retired so it's time to move closer to our families (his parents, our respective off-spring, our joint grandchildren and all our awesome siblings). Hence, 2016 will also be the last year of our Perth adventure. We plan to move back to Brisbane, in December.

Between now and then, we'll paint and sell our house.

Paul's retirement brings new opportunities for me without obligations to his former job. Right now, Paul's happy with working in the garden and playing golf. He has worked solidly at his career for more than 40 years. It's time to kick back and work on a few hobbies.  I'm off to the local TAFE to do a full time course in fashion design and technology (I'm not the kind of person to sit in front of the TV and wait for old age). As the old saying goes, rewire or rust.

Whatever your plans for 2016, don't get side-tracked, just make them come to fruition.

Happy New Year!

MTM shame

This post came up on my FaceBook page, today. I need to get it finished! I promised myself when I started it that I'd be finished by 31 Dec 2010.
Resolution: MTM is my sole WIP until it is finished.

Knit Along

I've just started this wonderful blanket (though knitting it in local merino wool rather than cotton).
The project can be found here.

This ‘Knit-A-Long’ design is a stunning patchwork knitted blanket which celebrates the seasons and calendar events throughout the year.
There are two squares to knit each month, one with a beautiful motif and the other plain.

So far, I have done two squares: a plain sampler in  'vanilla' & a Part 5 square.

This is the part 5 fair isle:

It's beautiful.

A Sid Beanie for the Doc

Youngest kids of the family ask and then receive. On Monday, the Doc asked me to knit her up a beanie. Using the same chunky wool I used for Felix, it took but a day. AustPost outdid itself and delivered it (from West Coast to East Coast), this morning. 😊

For a quick and easy first beanie to knit, get the pattern here.
