I learnt how to use a sewing machine when I was 9 years old and I've used the same home machine for nearly 36 years. I haven't really practised machine "skills'. I have just used my machine to sew.
However, now that I'm at TAFE, I'm using industrial machines and am learning again from scratch. I am transferring those learning techniques to my home machines (I have a new sewing machine at home, too, though I'll never get rid of my trusty Elna Lotus).
I need this practice because I have discovered that I cannot sew LONG straight lines to save my life!!!
