WIP Wednesday

Knee Rug for Genevieve

Here’s the pattern Bright Side

It’s a fast knit in worsted yarn for her days in the hospital.

WIP Wednesday

I have four small granddaughters so I’m having fun making dresses for birthdays & Christmas.

Birthday dress for 3 yr old Ariel

I can’t say that I love the cutting and taping of patterns, but that how it’s done, these days.

I’m making a Sweetheart Dress from Etsy

The Anker cardigan is progressing nicely.
It’s lots of rows of knitting and nothing much else.
The colour is really lovely.

WIP Wednesday - Anker’s Cardigan

 The cardigan is going well.
I love the colour.
I’m patient with all the minor tweaks.

The neckline was too tight for a Brisbane cardigan, so I unpicked the first bask of ribbing.
I’m knitting the cardigan in the round, not flat.

I have added short rows AFTER the ribbing, using the free Flax pattern by Tincan Knits.

Now for lots of boring knitting in the round before I steek.

WIP Wednesday - Anker’s Cardigan

This was an unplanned start, during the week.

I have admired the pattern for a while because I need a finer winter cardigan.

What I didn’t like about the pattern was its lack of short rows to keep the neckline from choking me (because this cardigan is for me!). Hence, experimental knitting to insert said short rows.

So far, so good.

The Anker’s Cardigan(detail)

My version of the Anker’s Cardigan being knitted in the round.

The yarn is Cloudborn Fibers Highland Sport in Grey Heather.

WIP Wednesday - Fair Isle Workshop

My fair isle knitting gets a bit “bubbly”, so I enrolled in a workshop at my local yarn store (LYS).
This is the link to the pattern at Ravelry:

This is the teacher’s sample.

The beginning of my sample is in the top corner.

WIP Wednesday

 Medieval Town Mandala

This post came up on my FaceBook page again, today.
I need to get it finished!
I promised myself when I started it that I'd be finished by 31 Dec 2010.

Resolution: MTM is my sole cross stitch WIP until it is finished.

WIP Wednesday

 Ghost Dancer

The beginning was difficult but now that I’m into the rhythm of part one, the knitting and slipping of stitches seems quite simple.

WIP Wednesday

Lowther

I have had a print subscription to The Knitter for years.
I love the designs but sometimes balk at using some of the suggestions for yarns because the choices are very expensive to purchase, or out of stock on the manufacturer’s website (even at time of printing the magazine).
The suggested yarn for this project is a case in point.

The Lowther design, however, really took my eye.

The twisted rib looks lovely

I like the saddle style shoulders

The yarn I chose is a dream to work with.
It will probably going to bloom when I finish, wash and block the garment,
which will be interesting to see.

I have had to re-do the maths for knitting in 8 ply (DK) rather than 5 ply (sport) yarn,
but that’s not a biggie.

My technique issue is getting the left-handed knitting correct.
I always have to stop and think about using K2tog & SSK in any pattern, which way (forward or back) for cables, etc,.I also need to practise using them more often because I do admit that there are parts of my knitting in this cardigan which could be better, now that I look at my work for posting online.

WIP Wednesday

I'm working on a hand-knitted pair of socks.

These are done in plain & long-print yarns by Drops Fabel Sock Wool.

I like them to match.

WIP Wednesday

I’m on a finishing roll, here. These are a pair of socks made from a Bendigo Woollen Mills pattern - another birthday score for Diana.

I’m also well on the way with a cardigan for my sister, Aldie.
